RimWorld is a space colony simulation with strategic survival gameplay. Players help the survivors of a spaceship wreckage on a hostile planet build a colony and live long enough to call for help and get evacuated. Not an easy task, as each game is unique, depending on the cast of survivors you start with and their various skills: a farmer knows how to grow food but cannot do research; a nerdy scientist is great at research but cannot perform social tasks at all, etc. Surviving also involves handling the various events that the game’s AI storyteller triggers, such as wild animals, pirates, merchants, slavers… that can try to reach and threaten your survivors. RimWorld has a very active community, offering a vast range of mods to try out, and the expansions add real interest to the game, as the possibilities are endless.
