Azeroth is calling again, and your old PC isn’t answering
World of Warcraft: Forever reopens the original Azeroth on November 4, and the beta runs until the end of October. The account is still yours. The tower that ran it probably isn't.
The account survived. The machine didn't.
You know how it starts. Someone posts a screenshot of snow over Dun Morogh, a guildmate you haven't spoken to since 2014 texts you two words, and you find yourself trying to remember a Battle.net password. The login still works. What's gone is the tower that used to run it: given to a cousin, sold for parts, replaced years ago by a work laptop and a Mac on the kitchen table.
That's usually where the comeback dies. Not for lack of wanting, but because coming back would mean buying a machine for an urge that's four days old. Shadow PC removes that step. A full Windows 11 PC with its own RTX card, streamed to whatever screen is in front of you right now. Install Battle.net, log back in, and the WoW Forever beta opens tonight on the laptop that's already on the couch. WoW runs there today. So yes, you can play the Forever beta with no gaming PC, and the machine is the one part of this you don't have to wonder about.
What a WoW Forever comeback looks like on Shadow PC
1. Forever is the Azeroth you remember, not fifteen years of catching up
The level cap stays at 60 for good, and progression comes from what you do rather than a number you chase. Three new zones, more than a thousand quests, nine dungeons and two raids sit on top of the world you already know, with the Skyborne Elves and pairings like Forsaken paladins for the character you never got to roll. Nobody hands you a stack of expansions to clear first. The beta is open now, which is the cheapest way to find out whether the itch is real before November 4.
2. The addons that made the jump to Forever
Forever runs on Blizzard's modern interface and keeps the addon rules Midnight brought in, so addons get far less to read in the middle of a fight. Blizzard fills part of the gap itself, with a built-in damage meter and Cooldown Manager. The rest is finding what was rebuilt for Forever. Deadly Boss Mods and Plater already have Forever versions, Questie is back for quest routes, and CurseForge opened a Forever category in the beta's first week. WeakAuras hasn't made the jump yet, so the old import strings stay in the drawer for now.
Shadow PC doesn't pick for you. It's a real Windows PC: you install what exists, from CurseForge or a zip out of a Discord, and update the day an author ships a new build. Catalog-based services work the other way. On WoW retail and Classic, GeForce Now preinstalls a curated set of more than 25 CurseForge addons for paid members. The list is the list.
3. The machine is still there on November 4
Everything you do in the beta gets wiped for launch, and that's the point of a test realm. What stays is a Windows PC with the real client patched and your addon manager already set up, ready the evening Forever goes live. The client downloads to our 512 GB SSD at up to 1 Gb/s, so the 128 GB Blizzard asks you to free up comes off our drive. The sub is monthly with no commitment, so you can size up for launch week and back down in December.

WoW Forever at a glance
Announced at BlizzCon on September 12, 2026, World of Warcraft: Forever grows the original Azeroth instead of replacing it. The level cap stays at 60 for good, and progression comes from what you do rather than a number you reach. Three new zones, more than a thousand quests, nine dungeons and two raids, plus the Skyborne Elves and new race and class pairings like Forsaken paladins. Access comes with an active WoW subscription when it launches on November 4. Beta entry is separate: a free opt-in on Blizzard's site, drawn at random, or guaranteed with the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection.

The ones rebuilt for Forever, which follows the same combat restrictions Blizzard introduced with Midnight. At the time of writing, Deadly Boss Mods, Plater and Questie have Forever versions, and CurseForge lists them under a Forever category. WeakAuras doesn't have one yet. The game also ships its own damage meter and Cooldown Manager.

Your Shadow PC keeps its files between sessions. One beta quirk for now: the client saves addon settings but doesn't load them back at launch, a bug players reported to Blizzard in September.

Six hours on a Shadow PC, with as many sessions as you like and an instant reconnect, inside 210 hours a month. The PC also shuts down after 30 minutes of inactivity, so an afternoon spent alt-tabbed doesn't quietly burn your quota.
On a stable 50 Mb/s connection, over Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, latency is virtually imperceptible and the picture matches a local install. Wired is still the safer call for Mythic progression.
